Warm Porridge with a Power Twist


On a freezing cold morning, there is nothing better and more satisfying than a warm, steaming porridge.

We have used all healthy ingredients so you will not only avoid putting weight on from it, but your body will receive extra nutrition from it as it satisfies every cell in your body. We added some Quinoa flakes for its super food qualities, but by mixing it with the rolled oats, it made the flavour less overpowering so this porridge is more enjoyable if you are not used to the Quinoa taste yet. You can alter the proportions if you like, to suit your pallet. Best enjoyed with a home made almond milk, which can be made the night before.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of almond mild-preferably the home made type
  • 2 Tbs of organic rolled oats
  • 1 Tbs of Quinoa flakes
  • pinch of himalayan salt
  • banana, currents and freeze dried pomegranate seeds
  • cinnamon

Method:

  1. Warm milk till nearly boiling in a small pot
  2. Add the oats and flakes and salt, stirring continually
  3. Boil for 5-10 minutes, till the desired consistency is achieved
  4. Serve while hot in a bowl
  5. Top with banana currents, seeds and cinnamon
