Integrity Applications, an company based in Israel has developed a non invasive glucometer. The device has now received the european CE mark and will be available in certain European countries in the first half of 2014.
The device is designed to allow people to obtain blood sugar level readings without pain. It is a ipod sized device with a cable attached earlobe clip.
The device utilises three technologies to obtain readings. These are ultrasonic, electromagnetic and thermal technologies.
Once the earlobe clip is placed and the device is activated it will take around 60 sec to obtain a reading.
The device will also store previous readings providing extensive history reporting in tabular and graphical form.
There is no doubt that this device will be a welcome by many diabetics and will hopefully contribute to diabetics taking more reading so that they can better understand how sugar levels behave in their given situation. A clear understanding of which foods elevate sugar levels can be a very important factor in modifying dietary intake to one which is beneficial for reducing blood sugar levels.
