When you study these amazing ingredients it makes no sense to substitute them with meat. They have a huge number of health properties including being packed with protein and aiding in weight loss.
By adding some quinoa flakes, you are adding some wholegrains, therefore have a complete protein, while you enjoy the lovely crunchy and nutty taste too.
Hope you enjoy my little creation as much as my family did.
Ingredients:
- 100g ground walnuts
- 1 brown onion
- 1 can of organic cheakpeas, drained and rinsed
- cracked pepper
- pinch of himalayan salt
- 1 ½ cups of quinoa flakes
- 3 free range eggs
- fresh dill
- 2 tbs of sessamy seeds + extra for coating Olive oil spray
Method:
- In a blender, grind the walnuts, or chop finely.
- Chop or blend the onion, then add the ground nuts, chickpeas and the remainder of the ingredients.
- Blend all ingredients for a couple of minutes till nice thick consistency is achieved. I used Thermomix for this recipe, but it will work in other blenders.
- Refrigerate for at least half an hour, till the mixture thickens and absorbs the fluid well.
- Remove from the fridge, and using a table spoon, roll walnut size balls in the palm of your hand, then roll in the remaining sesame seeds.
- Place balls on a baking tray covered with some baking paper.
- Spray with the Olive Oil, and place in a preheated oven for 30-45 minutes, depending on your oven, until the balls become a lovely golden brown colour .
- Remove from the oven and serve immediately either on a bed or rice with a nice whole foods sauce, or as a snack.
This recipe makes about 20-30 balls depending on their size.
