Diabetic Health Clinic Newsletter – 8/12/2014
Greetings,
Just a few weeks ago we found out that in the Australian state of Queensland a massive 25% of deaths are linked to weight. If you missed the story here is the link.
As if that wasn’t bad enough this week we had another shocker. I am assuming that by now we have all heard about the obesity epidemic and the diabetes epidemic. It seems that the two have become epidemics not just in Queensland or even Australia but around the world.
Well this week Queensland has upgraded their epidemic. The Queensland Chief Health officer announced that the diabetes epidemic can no longer be called and epidemic and has upgraded the situation to a diabetes catastrophe.
Yes you read it correctly, a CATASTROPHE!

What does this mean? Believe it or not it all comes back to the dollar. The report started that by the year 2033 if everything continued as it, there will be a 500% increase in the cost of dealing with this disease. Governments will simply not be able to pay for this. What on earth are they going to do?
Currently according the the official figures there are around 1.7 million people living with diabetes in Australia. There are many more who are not diagnosed. The estimates for pre-diabetics vary however there is no doubt that a large portion of the population are currently in the leading to the disease. Some estimates suggest that even up to one third of the population may be effected.
The sad part about all of this that the governments focus on the money. As important as that may be, isn’t the human catastrophe even more important? The reality is that for someone living with diabetes often as the disease progresses very alarming things start to happen. Eyesight often starts to fail. Heart disease is very common, often diabetics also have obstructive sleep apnea, feeling in the fingers and toes disappears and then often works its way up. Organ failure such as kidneys and liver are common and for many diabetic patients amputations are common place as currently there is no known cure for advanced gangrene. Compromised quality of life and ultimately early death is the final result for many diabetics.
Anyone who is diagnosed with type two Diabetes has to deal with their personal catastrophe. The solution however is very simple. It has been shown that removing all processed foods from ones diet and implementing a whole foods, plant based diet can actually help the condition. In many cases were a person is compliant with this type of diet over over the long term the doctor is left with no other option but to take away the diabetic medication. Some people call this a reversal.
The question is how does somebody become successful at changing their lifestyle to the point where they no longer consume processed food? There is help! Why not join our next program. It is beginning at the start of 2015. January the 14th to be exact. It will be a Conference Call / on-line program so anyone can attend from the comfort of their own home.
