Are you just cruising!

Greetings,

cruising

This week we ask the question are you just cruising? Funny question isn’t it? We are serious, are you just cruising?

Often we happily cruise along because things are going well. Everything seems fine but often we have no idea what is lurking under the bonnet of life! Just this week we discovered that two people we know quite well have been diagnosed with cancer. For some reason most people feel that it will never happen to them right?

Last week a segment aired on the ABC’s 7.30 program. A doctor in Sydney decided that he was going to do a study. The study involved taking a blood test for all outpatients of a hospital in Western Sydney to identify who had a problem with elevated sugar levels. The results were such worse than anticipated. The official statistics say that 1 in 10 people in Australia have the disease and yet in Western Sydney 66% of all people tested had a sugar problem. One third of the 66% had diabetes and they new it, the next third had diabetes and they did not know it. The last third were pre-diabetic. The reality is that many of these people are cruising without a care in the world and yet they have a terrible disease.

Diabetes is a disease that is slow progressing and people can actually habituate to the effects of the symptoms that they are experiencing. If you have any of the symptoms like tiredness, sleepiness, being overweight, low on energy, mood swings, cuts that heal slowly, being excessively thirsty or urinating all day long then maybe it would be a great idea to have a test. Even if you do not have the symptoms but you lead a typical western lifestyle then it would be wise to check out what is happening with your blood sugar levels. Next week we will delve into how to ensure that you are tested properly.

For people that want to become healthy they should consider joining our Nambour program. This coming Sunday will be session 2 but it not to late to join.
