The AMA is suggesting that the major political parties should subsidise fruit and vegetables to try and curb Queensland’s catastrophic obesity epidemic.
Queensland’s AMA president Dr Shaun Rudd is saying that the obesity epidemic in Queensland is costing a massive $11.6 billion per year saying the eduction is a key to making a difference. Queensland now has 10% more obese people than the rest of the national average.
Queensland was once referred to as the smart state but is now referred to as the fat state.
The AMA is suggesting that no fast food outlets should be open within 1 km of any school and that fruits and vegetables be subsidised in communities that are considered to be at risk.
