Diabetic Health Clinic Newsletter – 26/5/13
I would like to welcome you to this weeks newsletter. We have done a lot this week and here is a rundown. It is also exciting to see the changes that people are making to their long term diets, in other words their lifestyles and how many lifestyle related health issues just seem to go away. It is even more amazing to see the confirmation that a whole foods, as grown way of eating has so many health benefits. Well done to all of those people who have made the change.
New Podcast – Matthew Young talks about how he broke the sugar addiction and turned his life around
This is a great podcast and is a podcast that you will want to listen to. Matthew Young talks about what it took to break his sugar addiction and what it has done for him. This will give you a good idea of what is involved in breaking the addiction and what the challenges are in making a huge change like this.
We now have a venue for the upcoming Glasshouse Mountains Program. We will be announcing the start date and the venue this week. In the meantime if you know someone in the area that is dealing with type 2 diabetes ensure that go the our web page www.diabetichealthclinic.org and they click on “Lifestyle Program” button. They will then be taken through a process where they will be able to see if they will benefit from attending the program. Telling the people you know, about the program could mean that they will turn their health around. What better gift could you ever give.
The Diabetic health clinic has now lunched a pilot conference call/on-line meeting. If we find that this is a effective method of delivering the program we will make it available to a much broader group of people. We will keep you informed about how effective this program is.
Every week we add an interesting info graphic. This weeks infoghraphic teaches us the benefits of vegetables by their colour. Last week we started looking at the benefits of different teas. This week we had a look at peppermint tea. This is a 100% safe diabetic drink with some fantastic health benefits from relaxation to stomach soothing. With winter upon us peppermint tea is known to keep the cold and flu at bay. A new study shows that the consumption of unsaturated fat which is derived from an as grown, whole foods diet may increase insulin sensitivity.
