Diabetic Health Clinic Newsletter – 25/11/2013

Greetings,

It is a pleasure to be writing to you once again. This time from sunny Perth.

It is amazing to fly over the Australian continent. It is truly an amazing journey.  As you fly over the continent it is just nothing. From east to west so desolate.  So much emptiness. No town, no people.  As we sat there on the flight the breakfast meals came out.  On the seat next to me was a lady who commented that she was trying to loose weight and then she proceeded to tell how she was watching what she ate.  That of course sparked my interest and I the watched what she ate.  Here is the rundown.

1. Croissant – Processed Flour or sugar within minutes of ingestion.

2. Eggs with Bacon and Hash Brown – Processed potatoes drenched with processed oil, processed egg and bacon which the body cannot digest.

3. Blueberry Muffin – Processed white flour or in other words sugar!

As I sat there it was so obvious to me as to why this meal would not produce any weight loss but quite the opposite, weight gain.  What a sugar hit! Can you imagine.  The pancreas is working overtime, all of that inulin to get that sugar that has been manufactured by the digestive system from those processed foods within minutes of ingestion straight into cells that don’t really need energy, just to be stored as fat.

The sad thing is, as far as she was concerned it was a perfectly healthy breakfast.

Meanwhile….. I asked for a double portion of the fruit bowl, which I was given with a smile, after polishing that off I rang the buzzer and asked for another double portion. I received it with a smile once again.  My breakfast was full of sugar. My sugar however was non processed sugar so it was 100% safe.

This just wants to make you cry! Here is a person trying to loose weight that is totally confused and upset.  She is probably writing her situation off to a genetic predisposition.

How sad is that?  There are so many people in this boat and they have no idea as to how simple the solution is.

1. Break the sugar addiction

2. Continue to eat non processed foods

3. That is it!
