There is nothing more refreshing than a lovely tangy drink that gives you shivers down the spine as it goes down. This one is great for a hot summers day, or anytime that you feel like having a good alternative to water.
Lime is excellent for diabetics as it contains soluble fibre. The soluble fibre stabilises blood glucose levels and slows down the body’s capacity to absorb sugar into the bloodstream. The fibre also help in reducing the blood pressure and LDL cholesterol in the body. Inflammation of blood vessels is also reduced counteracting the the inflammatory effect of sugar. The low glycemic index in lime makes it an ideal fruit to be included in a diabetes diet plan. Diabetes often leads to blood vessel damage, heart disease and high blood pressure. Lime contains essential bioflavonoids that are helpful in strengthening the walls of the capillaries and preventing bruising and bleeding. These bioflavonoids also help in enhancing the circulation of blood in the body.
Ingredients:
1 large or two small limes
2 Tbs of honey
1 L. of filtered water or mineral water
Ice
Method:
Squeeze out the juice from the lime, poor in a jar, add the honey and water. Stir well, then add the ice and serve.
