The majority of food that western society consumes is processed. This food is cheaper to make, consistency can be guaranteed, it can sit of the supermarket shelf for a long time without perishing and is designed to have an enhanced taste.
There is now much evidence that the food industry manufactures this food in a way where it becomes addictive.
The food is laced with three main ingredients, fats, salt and sugar.
Processed foods are deceptive, they often appear to be healthy. They are often packaged with slogans like vitamin fortified, low fat, low carb, trans fat free, contains omega 3, etc.
These food are deceptive as it is these foods which are making western society sick. Apart from diseases like coronary heart disease, stroke and cancers these fully loaded sugar foods are largely responsible for the diabetic epidemic gripping modern society.
There are now sufficient studies to show that removal of such foods and the consumption of natural foods can in fact arrest and reverse a type 2 diabetic condition.
Some of these studies are documented in the Diabetic Health Clinic Institute web site. Follow this link to read the studies.
The food industry has become very good at seasoning our foods by adding abnormally high amounts of salt fats and sugar.
Because of the processed additives these food over stimulate the appetite and they become addictive. Great for the food industry as the food is cheap to manufacture and it causes people to eat more. This in turn increases profits. Sadly the abnormally high consumption of sugar not only creates the obesity epidemic but also has caused the diabetes epidemic.
On the 9th of October 2012 Dr Karl Kruszienicki published an article that discusses these issues in detail. It makes very interesting and eye opening reading.
The article is available on the Australian ABC web site by following this link.
