Diabetic Health Clinic Newsletter – 26/12/2014

Greetings,

Today we are writing to you with a piece of very special news. We are proud to announce that we now have a nutritionist as a part of our team. Julie Mironowicz is a qualified nutritionist who has specialised in the area of using food to treat certain conditions.

Click this link to get to know Julie.

We would like to cover with you the importance of a nutritionist. Because the Diabetic Health Clinic runs a program that ultimately revolves around a diet change there are often many questions that come up. Lets have a look at some examples of questions asked by people trying different things. A common question that is asked when a person has decided that they are no longer eating meat, is where do you get your protein from? Another common question when people decide to avoid dairy is where does one get their calcium from? Then there are a whole variety of other issues like, how much of what should a person be eating to ensure that they are achieving the optimal balance of nutrients?

Layered on top of these questions we start thinking about which foods are beneficial for a type 2 diabetic to eat. There are certain foods which a very detrimental to the condition whilst there are others which can put a person into a situation where there doctor starts to remove the blood lowering medications. The question is what are they and why do they work this way?

Then once we know which are the beneficial foods, how do you ensure that you balance your food intake in a way that ensures your diet has all the minerals, vitamins and all the required nutrients whilst allowing you to keep your blood sugars down?

Having a nutritionist on our team that is specifically trained in this area means that we will be getting professional knowledge and advise first hand. We are welcoming Julie and we are looking forward to her professional input.

Julie also runs her own blog. You will find it very interesting and fascinating reading with many insights and great recipes. Julie will be sharing much of this information on the Diabetic Health Clinic web site but we are encouraging you to have a read of Julie’s blog and then add it to you bookmarks.

This week we added the following items to our web site:
