Diabetic Health Clinic Newsletter – 27/4/2015
This week we want to touch on a very interesting subject. A subject that is grossly misunderstood. How many times have you heard someone say that they are sick because it is in their genes? If that is the case then most of us are destined to end up with some sort of disease somewhere along the line. After all our ancestors either had heart disease, diabetes or something else that is now in our genome.
As a matter of fact, believing that we don’t have any control over our genes leads us to believe that we will get a disease whether we like it or not. It seems that it is purely a matter of inheritance. It leaves people in a position where they don’t even try to lead a healthier life. Why bother if you are going to end up with the disease anyway?
According to current research this is absolutely incorrect. This week we posted on our website, for which you will find the links below, a piece of fascinating research. Research that shows that in a group of men who had prostate cancer, when they changed their lifestyle to one that was healthy just over 500 genes were either switched on or off. Yes 500! There is no doubt that there are many questions as to which ones were switched on or off however we do know one thing. When someone changes to a healthy lifestyle and eliminates all of the factory made processed foods out of their food intake miraculous thing start to happen. Things like blood pressure is normalised, cholesterol reverts to a healthy level, triglyceride normalises, diabetes ceases to be a problem, many people report that their arthritic pain has become history and there is studies that show that heart disease in some cases actually reverses. We could keep listing here every lifestyle disease and we would be correct in saying that a healthy lifestyle will be very helpful for people struggling with any one of the so called chronic diseases.
There is no doubt that switching genes on or off can make a huge difference when it comes to health outcomes and you have the ability to make these life changing alterations. All it takes is to change your lifestyle.
If you want to be guided through a lifestyle change that will enable you to happily revert to a non-processed food diet then why not join our next program.
